Rate the Teams in the Pre-Snap Reads Writers Project

If you have been following the Pre Snap Reads Writer’s Project this offseason, you will understand that we are working towards building 32 NFL franchises. Those franchises need incoming rookies, so there is an opportunity for you to help us determine the rookie draft order.

All you simply have to do is look at each team and give that team a rating on a scale of 1-10(10 being the best, 1 being the worst).

The draft tracker can be found here and even though the rosters aren’t completely full yet, enough picks have been made to get a feel for the overall quality of the rosters. The rating you give these rosters should be based on which roster you would like to inherit to try and win the Super Bowl during the 2014 season.

Was really fascinated with this whole thing throughout, now that the teams are out judgment day has come. Here’s one ignorant viewer’s take.

    10) Lilibridge: Lots of good parts along the lines, but I’m not sure how well this offense fits Tony Romo’s strengths(not great pass protection, nothing at receiver, no safety valves and receivers capable of winning 1 on 1 outside like he’s always had—basically inviting him to play out of structure) and the defense outside of a very strong interior and corners capable of playing man outside is empty(especially at outside pass rush your going to have to put Webb in the slot alot)
    9) Galko: This is alot like your classic Ravens teams, honestly if we’re just looking at a defense for this year, this might be the best one out of any 32. Ware/Avril/Ngata/Marks up front, that secondary—-good god. But this offense just doesn’t look very functional to me, honestly worse than those Ravens teams also and a bad offensive line killed Flacco last year and this one is worse.
    8) Bloom: loaded is how you describe this defense: you won’t find a pass rush quartlet like Dunlap/Houston/Irvin/Liguet on any other team and if this team is built like Galko’s, I put Bloom’s higher because of youth. Pass rush +Sherman/Carr under less pressure is the best long term defense here. This offense though just isn’t good enough; maybe getting a new QB soon is part of the plan but this team has a pretty clear ceiling till then(there isn’t the support group Smith had in SF to maximize his abilities)
    7) Stuart: Fate of this team comes down to highly talented and major question mark players: Floyd, Coples, Jordan, Milliner and of course RG3. Could be the best team from here 3 years from now, could also be one of the worst; just so highly RG3 dependent. Props though to giving him an ideal offensive set up for his skills and while this defense has major major issues(no pass rush and an iffy secondary) this offense has the potential to be special for a long time.
    6) Perez: Issues are there, no outside pass rush, bad secondary, no help for Eli. But Eli is one of the few QBs I’d rather have an elite o-line over skill position arsenal given his success molding receivers into marque players in the past and any team built around Eli+Watt+ridiculous offensive line is sustainable to be consistently very solid.
    5) Kenyon: Wonder if this team is built more for 2000 than 2015 but just too many good players across the board especially in the trenches plus a long term answer at QB still means top 5. Sio Moore outside and Michael Brockers in a 3-4 intrigue, for better or worse.
    4) Miglio: No real weaknesses outside of a questionable secondary(but I like Logan Ryan). Comes down really to how much faith you have in Ryan Tannehill and Jason Pierre Paul: I’m a big believer in both. But it’s hard to put a team led by Tannehill over one led by the top QB’s in the game if those teams are also complete.
    3) Risdon: Wasn’t a fan of all the picks as they went along but overall this ended up being a good team. Clear hole along the defensive line, but this offense can work and redefine Aaron Rodgers who is really what makes this ranking. The pass rush/secondary combo I like which also made a difference for this ranking.
    2) Hallam: I get Peyton probably has two more years left at most, but those next two years this team is as good as anybody. No weaknesses, none. Pass rush, secondary, Luke Kuechly, supporting cast for Peyton, it’s all there. If I had to pick one team to win a title the next two years this is clearly the best option.
    1) Liskiewitz: Splitting hairs but I think Brees has 4 years left while Peyton probably 2. That’s probably the difference. Defense is very strong and I think Ziggy Ansah can emerge as a similar player to Robert Quinn in coming years and this team is a bit younger across the board than Hallam’s which also made a difference.

  • How did Allbright’s team not crack your top 10?
